Try using the full URL to your Admin CP:

    .....admin/index.php

Then unfortunately your host has screwed you. The only way around this is to move the Admin CP files to another directory, then you'll need to apply some code hacks to make it work. Make a request at vbulletin.org for help.

FYI, you'll be able to specify you're own Admin CP directory with vB 3. Till then, hacking is the only way around this.

wouldn't this involve removing all references to /admin in.. all of the misc. vb files?

Yes, this is why I said you'll need to hack the files, as well as edit some of the templates.
