  • Can someone explain Load Limiting further?

Can someone further explain how to use:

Unix Load Limiting and Simultanious Sessions limit?

My board just got very popular and im getting flooded with errors because my host wont upgrade my total sessions.

What is a coservative setting? What is an extreme setting?

    Thanks in advance

        To 40?
What a dumb thing to do, but it's your server.

That what im trying to figure out.

I had it turned off but started to get alot of "Link-ID == false, connect failed" so i decided maybe I should put it on.

And now i get "hey dude, i can't get on the board" emails instead

          So for
Simultanious Sessions limit: What is a loose, medium and tight settings?

          And for
Unix load: What is a loose, medium and tight settings

And please be specific... and answer like "1 and 5" doesn't exactly tell me what should be the 1 and what should be the 5, for which settting.

Also what should I be asking my host to "upgrade" in order to allow more sessions?

          Thanks!

Oops, i meant Unix Load Limit between 1 and 5.
Set Unix Load Limit to 5 and you should be ok.
About the Link-ID read this thread -> http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...threadid=41678
Simultaneous sessions limit set it to 0.
Are you on a dedicated or shared server?
            Post your server specs.

Thanks, I had read that thread earlier, and I am already set to 0 on persistant connections in config.php.

Im on Hostway. My account allows:
              300MB Disk
              15 GB Traffic

But doesn't say anything about mysql 'connections'.

About the max connections your host allows, you should contact them and if it is too low for you ask them to increase it.
Are you on Platinum package by any chance?
They only give you 10MB MySQL disk quota, and that sux

Bingo. Platinum package. And the next package up is almost double in price.

Ive toyed with moving to a new host... but I can't even backup my database now without deleting alot of stuff! I run out of space when I try to backup the database now.

                  Any host recommendations?
