  • migrating a version 2.0.3 board to a 2.2.9 board

Ok, one of the forums i actively participate in is closing down because the owner lost intrest awhile ago, and now that it comes time to renew the vbulletin liscence he doesn't want to pay the money. He is giving us admins that are still around until the end of the month to move everything to a new forum or to send him the $85 to renew the board.

I bought a vbulletin a year ago but i no longer am using it, so we plan to move everything to my board.

The problem is that the board is old (version 2.0.3) and for some reason i feel that i will run into problems trying to migrate such an old board to a new one. What will be the best way to do that? Would it work if i just dumped the mysql database and uploaded it to the new one? I really dont want to mess anything up.

Thanks a lot for any help you can give. Sorry if this question has already been answered, when i searched it came up with a bajillion results and i didn't find anything in the threads that looked like they would help me.

You best bet would be to:

    1) Copy the 2.0.3 files to your site.
    2) Backup then restore your database via the instructions found at http://www.vbulletin.com/manual/movingservers.html
    3) Upgrade your board to 2.2.9 via the instructions found at http://www.vbulletin.com/members/upgrade.html
