  • Stupid Question:: Access masks

    I have set one of my forums to be members only - ie guests can not view the forum or threads - the problem is that people can still browse the forum but see

    There have been no posts in the last 2000 days in this forum

    Rather than 'you are not authorised blah blah'

    How can we make it so that the forum exists in the main forum listing but when entered gives an - you are not authorised message please register - blah blah

          Well you only have two real choices when it comes to your private forums. If you make it a private board only those you access can get in.. but it is still viewed by the public.. hince the no messages in 2000 days... the other option to to create a forum and edit its mask so that only user groups or members you choose can access it. but in this case no one else but the ones you choose will be able to see it.. and i ask why do you want people to see a board they can not access.. doesn't make alot of sense.

            Yeah - I have private forums [invisable to all apart from a few user groups] - what I want is people being able to see the Thread Titles but when they click through they are told to register - people do this already as the lastest topics are displayed on the homepage -
