  • the 'edited by...' message

Is it possible that moderators can edit their own posts without the 'edited by...' message appearing but for all other users, the message would appear?

This is only an option for Admins. To do this for Mods requires hacking. Ask over at vbulletin.org.

I am an adminstrator, previously I could edit without: "edited by XXX" at the bottom of the message, but this message came up today after I edited some messages. I checked my admin control panel, the > edit option >

      Show 'edited by' for admins?
If you want the [edited by xxx] message to appear when an admin edits a message, select yes here. This message will appear automatically for all moderators and other users, but using this option you can optionally turn it off.

      Yes No

How can it be OFF - Selected: NO and yet shows "edited by XXX" for admin?

      Thanks!

Setting this to 'No' works fine on my forums. Note that this is not retroactive. It only works on edits going forward.

Today the only thing I played with is the permission function at, went back to check if there's a function for edited by XXX, but none. May I ask when else should I look at to stop "edited by admin" ?

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Edit Options -> Show 'edited by' for admins? -> No

It is set to NO when the "edited by XXX" appeared. I checked after "edited by XXX" appeared, it is still set to NO.

I have edited my or others Thread subject title, thread messages, all without "edited by xxx".

I just did a test thread edit, it shows up again.

Did I mess with something that I have yet to discover? Thanks!

If you have not installed any hacks, fill out a support ticket at:

                  http://www.vbulletin.com/members/support_form.php

Be sure to include the login info to your Admin CP and FTP.

If you have installed hacks, then remove the hacks first before filling out the support request.
