  • VB 2.2.9 replace ascii 173 with underscore "_"

    I'm using VB 2.2.5 and verything just fine until I upgraded to 2.2.9 last night. I found all character that has ascii no. 173 were replaced with "_".

    This happend only in body text .. for subject and other places it display just fine.

    I've a link to show you as sample. Everything is in Thai you might unable to understand but you'll found there're "_" around somewhere in body text.

    How can I prevent this?.. Thank you in advance.

      Thank you very much. May I ask few more questions?

      1. Why VB have to banned 173/160?
      2. I do need to use two of this characters because we use it as code for Thai character. Does it any hack for information that I can find out to modify this.

      Thank you in advance again.

        1. It was removed because people were able to make threads without subjects using 173 or 160.

        2. I don't think any hack has been released to reverse this. You will have to take a look over at http://www.vbulletin.org/ . If they don't have a hack, you can request it to be made. I can't imagne it would be that hard to make; just comment a line or two in the code.

            Just for information in case someone get same problem I have.

            open admin/functions.php

            search for

            $text = str_replace(chr(173), '_', $text);
            $text = str_replace(chr(160), '_', $text);

            then put "//" in front of those two lines.
