  • Just Upgraded to 2.2.9 - Now intermittant Division by zero error!

Last night I upgraded to 2.2.9. No apparent problems. However, I got a message that one of my users was getting this:

    BBS Errors
    Hi Wayne,

I've noticed this error popping up a few times today (on the 911 BBS):

Warning: Division by zero in D:\PelicanBBS\cgi-bin\vb\admin\functions.php on line 26

It's displayed right at the top of the window when loading some threads.

    Cheers,

    Tim.

What exactly is he doing when he gets this error?

One of my users pointed out this particular thread, which now appears to be blank!

Although if I go to that thread, I get this:

          http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...0&pagenumber=2

The difference being the perpage variable, which seems to be not set correctly when my user tries to look at the page.

I upgraded from 2.2.5 - no mods except for the templates...

Reupload the original functions.php file from the zip file. Make sure you upload in ASCII and overwrite the one on the server.

I'm running Windows NT. Logged in using PCAnywhere, and took your original ZIP file and extracted it to a temp directory. Then I uploaded it over and replaced the existing files in the directory. I am aware of the problems with FTP upload and perform all the file replacements in this manner to avoid these issues.

It seems like most people are able to surf the board, but receive this error sometimes (not sure how they get to there)...

The error isn't appearing on that link anymore.

                  This one gives the error:

This is what he sent me in a PM this morning...

Everything was working fine before upgrading yesterday. Here is what I did:

                  - Shut down IIS
                  - Shut down MySQL
                  - Backup MySQL
                  - Get Zip fil
                  - Extract zip file
                  - Copy all files out of extracted directory into CGI-BIN
                  - turn on IIS
                  - Turn on MySQL
                  - Run upgrade scripts for upgrading from 2.2.5

And did you upload the latest functions.php?

Since you are running in CGI-BIN do you need to put the path to PHP in your php scripts?

Have you changed the forumdisplay_multipagenav_pagenumber template or edited forumdisplay.php?

The reason for the error is the perpage has a 0 value in the page choices on forumdisplay.

                        I have changes in:

                        forumdisplaybit
                        forumdisplaybit_threadrate
                        forumdisplay_announcement
                        forumddisplay_threadslist
                        forumdisplay_threadslist_threadrate

But not the template that you specified. I have not been able to replicate the error on the forums page myself...

                          Got more information here:

                          http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=89960

Seems to be related to page numbers. I changed them in the templates to give a larger font size, but that's it...

                          I need to check this...

Okay, the problem occurs when clicking on a page number to open a thread from the main forums page:

                            http://forums.pelicanparts.com/forum...p?s=&forumid=8

"Click on Carolina Drive, Part Deux" for example.

I have not modified this part, but I will double-check...

Freaking Master's degree in Engineering, and I decide to upgrade the BBS at 4:30AM

Figured out the problem - I didn't copy the files into the main directory - only the other directories.

Gosh, I feel really, really stupid.

Sorry for the false alarm. I should never have doubted vBulletin - it's never let me down...
