  • Avatar headache

I'm helping someone install vb 2.2.8 and running into an avatar nightmare. We run in safe_mode so open_basedir is in effect. That otion is enabled in the admincp. I put in the full path to the tmp dir which I placed inside the images folder.

On my 2.2.6 though, I don't seem to need the full path. In the admin cp I have /images/tmp and the corresponding tmp dir in the images folder and opened up to 777.

Trying to do the same thing on this new board isn't working. I tried a tmp dir everywhere and even added vhost.conf directives to try and control the upload.

As it stands, I cleared everything out and just have a chmodded tmp dir in images with the full apth to that in the admin cp. When I upload an avatar it seems to upload but it spits out Unable to create and unable to move errors pointing at the tmp dir.

Doing my head in, of course.

Upload the phpinfo.php file from the 'extras' directory of the zip file to your forums directory. Then post the URL here.

Also post what setting you have for the safe mode temp directory.

P.S. If you are on a Plesk server then I believe only root can add or modify vhost.conf.

Bleh, just realised hadn't chowned the avatar directory. All is well, sorry to bother you.
