  • footer not working correctly on vb pages

    I've had this ongoing problem now for a while. None of my footers are working on vbulletin. This only happens on vbulletin, not on any of my other pages. The problem is, it leaves a small space at the bottom after the footer. I've noticed this happens on alot of other sites also, but i've also noticed it doesn't happen on some. I would have posted this in html questions, but I don't think this is a problem with the html i'm using... I think it's a problem with html that vbulletin uses that is messing up the html i'm trying to use. You can see the footer at http://www.starcraftforums.com (notice how it doesn't work at the bottom). Here is the code i'm trying to use:

    Code:
    <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%" height="50">
      <tr>
        <td width="780" background="http://www.battleforums.com/images/footer/starcraft/fbg1.gif" valign="top" height="50"><font face="verdana, arial, helvetica" size="2"><b><font color="#FFFF00">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="http://www.battleforums.com/link_to_us.php">
    <img border="0" src="http://www.battleforums.com/images/footer/starcraft/b_ltu.gif"></a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="http://www.battleforums.com/affiliates.php">
    <img alt="Affiliates" border="0" src="http://www.battleforums.com/images/footer/starcraft/b_a.gif"></a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="http://www.battleforums.com/history/index.php">
    <img alt="Historical Posts" border="0" src="http://www.battleforums.com/images/footer/starcraft/b_h.gif"></a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="http://www.battleforums.com/advertising.php">
    <img alt="Advertising Information" border="0" src="http://www.battleforums.com/images/footer/starcraft/b_ad.gif"></a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="http://www.battleforums.com/disclaimer.php">
    <img alt="Site Disclaimer" border="0" src="http://www.battleforums.com/images/footer/starcraft/b_d.gif"></a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="mailto:[email protected]">
    <img alt="Contact Us" border="0" src="http://www.battleforums.com/images/footer/starcraft/b_cu.gif"></a></font></b></font></td>
        <td background="http://www.battleforums.com/images/footer/starcraft/fbg1x.gif">&nbsp;</td>
      </tr>
    </table>
    ... any suggestions would be appreciated.

    it's not working because of the space at the bottom? or is the footer section not even parsing? try reverting the footer template to fix any html problems. we can't support customized templates.

      yeah cause of the space under the footer..... it looks stupid and takes the whole effect away. I will create a new style and add the footer to it and see if it works.

        nevermind, it's all fixed now, thanks to natch! Here is the solution to the problem:

        Looks like a Padding/margin issue ... try the following: look for
        Code:
        BODY {
        	SCROLLBAR-BASE-COLOR: #606096;
        	SCROLLBAR-ARROW-COLOR: #FFF788;
        }
        in your headinclude template and replace it with
        Code:
        BODY {
        	SCROLLBAR-BASE-COLOR: #606096;
        	SCROLLBAR-ARROW-COLOR: #FFF788;
        	MARGIN-BOTTOM:0em;
        	PADDING-BOTTOM:0em;
        }
        Thank you natch and jakeman for the help, footers look much nicer now
