Trying to add template...it adds...but text doesn't remain

Okay, I'm creating a custom template. Two actually.

One for email subject

One for email content

I created the custom template (I've added custom templates before)....

I named it, select the default template style...and then add the content. (it says: classic before I add the new content).

I click SAVE.

The template is there....named properly but the content is blank except the word CLASSIC is there like before I added content.

ANy ideas what is going on? Thanks for any help!

You may want to upgrade to 2.2.8.

I'm going to try this on my 2.2.8 forums to see if I can reproduce it...

Thanks, I appreciate the encouragement to upgrade but with umpteen hacks, upgrading isn't an easy solution. I save upgrading for when I can upgrade through several versions....since there are so many changes.

I have added custom templates before but it isn't working anymore. ANy ideas?

OKay, ugh, an added note...I have no idea what is going on.

It seems I just checked one of my custom templates.

I opened it up to EDIT.

I Edited...a tiny word...and then SAVED...

reopened it to check to see if it Saved....

UGH

that template is now gone and says: CLASSIC

Any ideas what is going on my server??

What versions of vB and PHP are you running?

Upload the phpinfo.php file from the 'extras' directory of the zip file to your forums directory. Then post the URL here. This will help us troubleshoot the problem.

And another odd twist.

Every template I touch from my computer....and SAVE, replaces it with CLASSIC on the page:

I even tweaked the forum home page and poof...it was CLASSIC for a while. I had saved the text .....

and yet, when I asked my admin helper to copy/paste the text I sent to her into the forum home page template, it worked.

Hmmm...there shouldn't be any problem between vB 2.2.5 and PHP 4.1.2. However if you've hacked any of the files it may be difficult to help.

The first thing I would suggest is to upload the original copies of:

admin/index.php
admin/template.php
admin/functions.php
admin/global.php

...and see if this fixes the problem.

Hi Steve, did you notice my last reply?

My admin help can copy/paste into the templates and it works fine.

For me to touch them in the admin control panel and they go poof.

What would make it so anything I touch goes poof but my admin helper can touch the templates and they are fine?

The only thing I can think of is a problem with your browser, browser settings, and/or other software on your computer that is interfering with this process. Try a different browser and see if that works.

Okie, I ran Norton and then tried...templates poof.

I then opened up the old Netscape on my machine...(ewwwwww!) and it worked. Templates didn't go poof.

So I guess I need to dump this IE and reinstall it since the settings haven't changed. I can only assume something has gotten corrupted?

Okay, I'm off to find a new IE to download and install.

Thanks for holding my hand while I paniced. I only lost one custom template in the deal.
