  • Users awaiting email confirmation

I have several users who have successfully registered on our new forums, but several also who seem to be 'stuck' in the 'users awaiting email confirmation' status.

I have verified email addresses and such for those who are stuck and they are valid. It seems the system isn't sending the confirmation request email.

Why do some go through without any problems while others are having difficulty? I have changed those with the issues to 'Registered' status to allow them to post, but I want to know what is wrong with the system.

this can be prob @ your host
or @ your users mail provider
I simply turned off the registration system by mail

If some are getting the emails and some aren't, then the vB is doing it's job. You will need to view the mail logs on the server to see what happened to those emails. Once vB sends it to PHP it's in the hands of the server.

For what it's worth I get a lot of bounced emails from people who's mail boxes are full or over quota. This is a particular problem with hotmail and yahoo accounts. Unless you are on a dedicated server and can set where these bounce messages go, you will never see them. The mail logs will have a record of these though.

If you are on a shared server you may need to ask your host to look through the logs for you.
