  • Database is not cooperating!

Ok, I am an idiot. I've been using 2.2.2 for the longest time, and I've just updated today, or so I think.

You see, I followed the link in my control panel to the members area, downloaded the zip file for 2.2.7, and have uploaded everything. I thought it would be a snap. I deleted the upgradeX files it asked me to, as well. So.. I ran the install and now it gives me some jazz about a database error. Ok, before you flame me for my ignorance, what have I done wrong, and how can I fix it? I know it might be late, but I'm restricted from computer access tomorrow and days after that. Help, please?

    Thanks in advance!

means the access table is already there .. you are sure you ran upgradeXX.php scripts and not install.php when you upgraded ?

front the error you ran install.php instead of the instructions at http://vbulletin.com/members/upgrade.html

i'd revert to your backup of your database (or create new database and reimport your latest backup before the upgrade) which you should of made before you backed up and redo the upgrade steps again

You do not run install.php when upgrading. You need to run the appropriate upgrade files. From vB 2.2.2, these would be:

          http://your.site/forums/admin/upgrade16.php
          http://your.site/forums/admin/upgrade17.php
          http://your.site/forums/admin/upgrade18.php
          http://your.site/forums/admin/upgrade19.php
          http://your.site/forums/admin/upgrade20.php

You can review the upgrade procedures here:

Well, let's see... I've deleted install.php, (which never ran because the database didn't allow it...), I've upgraded with the upgrades, and... yeah, that's it. Still a problem.

This might seem stupid, but if I load all the old files, would it run again? Because now after reading a few more things I realised that I never turned the board off.. =\ Can you still help me?

EDIT: I think I forgot to download a database backup afterall... can we work around this...? Sorry if I'm causing too much trouble.

EDIT EDIT: This is the error on the main forum page, if it helps any.

            Database error in vBulletin 2.2.7:

Invalid SQL: INSERT INTO session (sessionhash, userid, host, useragent, lastactivity, althash,

mysql error: Unknown column 'althash' in 'field list'

That error means you haven't run upgrade20.php.
