  • avatar problems

I run a board with avatars enabled, however as more users are uploading avatars and more frequently the bandwidth is increasing greatly.

    I'm on 2.2.1

    Can anyone suggest anything to
    a) help reduce the bandwidth used by the avatars
    b) only allow users to change their avatar every now and again?

I heard there is a problem with IE not caching the avatars as they are stored in the DBase or something? Is there a way of fixing this?

Also how about putting the avatars on another server or something?

currently I have it set so that a user cannot upload an avatar until 30 posts but then they are able to change as frequently as they wish which I don't like.

Anyone get any suggestions? Maybe I need to hack things?

The easiest solution is to disable avatars

Though you should probably ask over at www.vbulletin.org for a solution to your problem as it involves editing the code.

Yes I have disable avatars for the time being

But is it true that I am increasing my bandwidth by having avatars in my database?
