  • Help with telnet..

I am transferring my site to another server and am going to telnet the site. Do I have to actually install vbulletin first on the destination server, or will it just "appear" after the transfer?

    Thanks,
    Shawn

no you do not have to install it, simple insert your MySQl Dump into the new MySQl database and to change the settings in the config.php file (admin folder)

    hostname or ip of server
username and password to log onto db server
    name of database

    and may be
technical email address - any error messages will be emailed here
use persistant connections to the database

and maybe (depends if the new server has the same URL) in the CP the URL of the forum

Actually you will need to copy all your vB files and directories to the new server. You just don't need to run 'install.php' again. For instructions on moving servers, check here:
