Who's Online - Unknown Location

On the "Who's Online" page, I'm getting a fair number of "unknown locations", such as:

Unknown Location: /images/clear_avatar.gif?

Unknown Location: /robots.txt?

Unknown Location: /forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=Graphics+%7cAMP%7c+Multimedia&number=13&DaysPrune=100 0&LastLogin=

Does anyone know why this might be, and how I can solve it? Thanks.

the whos online shouldnt pick up files not in the system.

Im guessing you have a 404 redirect to your forums and this is causing it to think the index page your viewing is the file that they were looking for.

I've seen regular members on these "unknown locations" rather frequently. I do not think that the odds are high that they are hitting missing pages that frequently. Could there be another explanation?

Thats the only way it could happen, the fact its a registered member means it may be a link on your site. And robots.txt will be search engines.

There is no code in vBulletin which would read files on your site.

Do you have the error document pointing to your index.php on your forums?

I believe the 404 page just goes to the root domain: http://www.htmlforums.com

Thats whats causing all the unknown locations, you get redirected back to the main index.php which reads your location as whatever the file you were looking for is.

If you set it to redirect back to index.php or to a 404.html page with an apology about not being found then a meta refresh back to the index.php it will be fine.
