    problems after server move

    Hello,

I recently moved servers, and I've been having 2 strange problems.

    1) I cannot delete posts
Deleting threads is no problem, but trying to delete an individual post, either through "edit post" or "delete posts selectively," always sends me to a Cannot Find Server "The page cannot be displayed" screen. There's no mysql error given... it just stalls out and goes to that fatal screen. Any ideas?

    2) I cannot prune users
When I go to Move/Prune users in my control panel, and try to delete users, it directs me to a page that says:
    Deleting forum subscriptions .... okay.
    Deleting thread subscriptions .... okay.
    Deleting calendar events .... okay.
    Deleting custom avatars .... okay.
    Deleting forum access .... okay.
    Deleting moderators .... okay.
    Deleting private messages .... okay.
    Deleting user sessions .... okay.

Now proceding to update threads & posts ....
And that page has a javascript error at the bottom. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be directing me to another page, but it just sits there. And when I go back to see if the user names were deleted, they're still there. I should probably note that I am still able to mass move users into different user groups... just not delete them.

    Forum URL: http://www.soundcircuit.com/cboard/
    PHP version: 4.2.2
    MySQL version: 11.15 Distrib 3.23.41, for redhat-linux-gnu (i386)
    Apache/webserver version: 1.3.22
Server operating system: RedHat Linux 7.2
Edited files: months ago, but they were all working fine until I moved servers yesterday.

Also, global registers are off, and safe mode is on (for security in 4.2.2). Could either of those be related to these problems?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I would have upgraded a while ago, but I have a lot of stuff intergraded with paypal that pays the bills... so I'm waiting for v3 (and hoping it's more customizable and has better pruning options for large forums).

if you're using PHP 4.2.2 you need to upgrade to vB 2.2.6

          backup your database before upgrading

upgrading isn't really an option right now, but thanks for the reply... (and for posting your my.cnf settings in the other thread... that was a big help)

              I can't update/edit users either

I think it might all be related to moving on a server with 4.1.2 php and 4.2.2

              We apologise for any inconvenience.

Database error in vBulletin Control Panel: Invalid SQL: SELECT COUNT(*) AS users FROM user, usergroup WHERE user.usergroupid=usergroup.usergroupid AND usergroup.cancontrolpanel=1 AND user.userid<>

There's no way to fix this without upgrading vBulletins and losing all my hacks?

you need to upgrade to sort out the problem with updatnig users as well as the problem with blank template names.

If you dont mind not having these functions, you can just turn register_globals on.

I would suggest upgrading though due to the many security holes that exist in versions bellow 2.2.6.

                  thanks for the reply.

do you have any estimate on when vB 3 is being released officially? I'd hate to upgrade and re-install all my hacks on 2.2.6, only to have 3 come out a week later.

vB3 is definately more than a week away. There is no current release date set though.

http://beta.vbulletin.com/vb3/ is the vB3 beta site and as you can see its not ready.
