    PHP: 4.0.6

    MYSQL 3.23.36

    OS: Linux

Error: Custom avatars not working. Even if the avatar is under size limit (width-height/filesize) and its a valid jpg/gif it says that the avatar is not a valid jpg/gif.

    Hacked: NO

    PHP Info Page: http://64.246.10.60/ok.php

In fact, I saw there was an option in Admin CP that said something about if the avatar doesnt go through, to check yes.. Though it may let members bypass the size limit. I did that and I didnt get the error, but the avvy showed up as a x.

    The error is
The uploaded file is not a valid GIF or JPG file. Please ensure that it is and try again.

Your PHP requires Safe Mode. Do you have Safe Mode turned on the the Admin CP?

Does this mean you have enabled Safe Mode? Have you also specified the full and exact path to a Safe Mode Temp Direcotry that has been chmoded to 777?

When I put in my full path I get these errors (in both admin cp, and usercp)

Warning: Unable to create '/usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/pgnx.net/httpdocs/tmp/untitled.jpg': No such file or directory in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/pgnx.net/httpdocs/forums/admin/user.php on line 665

Warning: Unable to move '/tmp/phptOqQe3' to '/usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/pgnx.net/httpdocs/tmp/untitled.jpg' in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/pgnx.net/httpdocs/forums/admin/user.php on line 665

When I leave it as /tmp

            I get

Warning: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 10041 is not allowed to access /tmp/untitled.jpg owned by uid 0 in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/pgnx.net/httpdocs/forums/admin/user.php on line 665

The first error means that you don't have a 'tmp' subdirectory under 'httpdocs' or that it is not chmoded to 777.

The second error means that '/tmp' is not chmoded to 777.

Hmm.. Maybe my domain didn't switch yet.

If I allow safe mode and make a tmp folder with chmod 777 the avatars should work?

Assuming you specify the correct directory and there are no other problems, then yes.
