  • forum categories and forum order.

    Hi all,
    I just do a convert from phpbb to vbb 2.2.6. I don't know why, I can't set the correct order # of the forum. Right now, it's all mess up. Please help me to find out how to set it to the right order number in my forum. Check it out at www.tuoithantien.com/forums/

    you can set the order numbers of the forums there.

      Hi there,
      I know that I can reput the number in those order #. But the thing is I don't know how it work. I put in category for 10, 20 , 30 , 40. and the subcategories for 11,12,13,14 folow under the category 10. And 21,22,23,24... under the category 20 and so on, but it did not work. Plus some of the forum did not show out for my members to view. I check the permission already, but there is no wrong setting in there. Please help

        hopefully that will better illustrate forum order for you.

        to change the forum depth go to - Admin CP -> Options -> vBulletin Options -> [Forums Home Page Options] -> Depth of Forums

          those # can't go, I already set it but it not work that way.
          can I just go like this???

          I tried this too but still won't work.
          and what is forum depth??? In that section, It all mark "yes".

              Im not too sure on exactly what you ar trying to achieve, but I'll take a shot at it


              Firstly :
              What exactly are you trying to do ?
              Just re-sort the order of your forums ?
              Or change how many categories/forums and sub forums are displayed on forume home ?

              Please use Jakemans post a guide in regards to forum order
              ( saves me typing the same thing again )


              If you want to simply reorder your forums :

              You currently might have something like
              Forum R (1)
              Forum V (2)
              Forum B (3)
              Forum K (4)
              Forum C (5)
              Forum S (6)
              Forum O (7)

              But you really want it to be ordered like this :
              Forum V (1)
              Forum B (2)
              Forum R (3)
              Forum O (4)
              Forum C (5)
              Forum K (6)
              Forum S (7)

              The key to getting the order correct, is sorting out the 'top level' forums (or categories if you have used them) out first.
              Once you have done this, apply the same theory to get the forums/categories below each individual 'top level' forum/category sorted in your desired order.

              You may also have the problem where all forums and sub forums etc are all in one long list (rather than grouped as per Jakemans layout)
              To assist with this, you may also need to adjust the 'Forum Parent'
              Admin CP -> Forums and Moderators -> Modify -> Edit -> 'Forums Parent' - Then just select the Parent Forum it belongs to
              (all sub-forums will come along for the ride too)


              If you want to alter the 'levels' of categories/forums/sub-forums displayed on forumehome :

              Admin CP -> vBulletin Options
              Then adjust these 2 values to suit your requirements
              - Depth of Forums (Forums Home Page Options)
              - Depth of Forums (Forum Display Options)


              If worst comes to worse, fill out a support ticket and the vBulletin staff will be able to assist you directly
