  • 404 error after logging into admin cp and others..

I've encounted some errors, both while installation and after....

At the top of the page during installation.
Warning: ini_get() has been disabled for security reasons in install.php on line 26

At the bottom of the page while installing: (And on the bottom of the forum homepage)
Warning: Unable to access /data/members/free/tripod/uk/b/u/n/bungiefoxb/user/ad.infos in append.php on line 14

Warning: file("/data/members/free/tripod/uk/b/u/n/bungiefoxb/user/ad.infos") - No such file or directory in append.php on line 14

Warning: Variable passed to each() is not an array or object in append.php on line 15

At top of Control Panel login screen:

Warning: ini_get() has been disabled for security reasons in global.php on line 19
(X2) Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /data/members/free/tripod/uk/b/u/n/bungiefoxb/htdocs/vbforum/admin/global.php:19) in functions.php on line 1573

When I sign in, the 'Hang on a minute' screen displays these errors for about 2 seconds:
Warning: ini_get() has been disabled for security reasons in global.php on line 19

(X3) Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /data/members/free/tripod/uk/b/u/n/bungiefoxb/htdocs/vbforum/admin/global.php:19) in functions.php on line 1573

Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /data/members/free/tripod/uk/b/u/n/bungiefoxb/htdocs/vbforum/admin/global.php:19) in global.php on line 205
    Hang on a sec

Then I get a 404 page not found error. So I tried going to the forum home page. On it, there were these errors on top:

Warning: ini_get() has been disabled for security reasons in global.php on line 17
(X2) Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /data/members/free/tripod/uk/b/u/n/bungiefoxb/htdocs/vbforum/global.php:17) in functions.php on line 1573

When I click 'User Options' in my profile page, this shows up and stops the browser:
Warning: ini_get() has been disabled for security reasons in global.php on line 17

(X2) Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /data/members/free/tripod/uk/b/u/n/bungiefoxb/htdocs/vbforum/global.php:17) in functions.php on line 1573

Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /data/members/free/tripod/uk/b/u/n/bungiefoxb/htdocs/vbforum/global.php:17) in moderator.php on line 22

Ok, there's really only two error messages...

    Code:
Warning: ini_get() has been disabled for security reasons in <file> on line ##
Unfortunately your host seems to have decided to disable this function. This is where PHP's customizability becomes annoying -- you can disable any function. It can be worked around, albeit not truely and it is a pain.

    Code:
Warning: Unable to access /data/members/free/tripod/uk/b/u/n/bungiefoxb/user/ad.infos in append.php on line 14

Warning: file("/data/members/free/tripod/uk/b/u/n/bungiefoxb/user/ad.infos") - No such file or directory in append.php on line 14

Warning: Variable passed to each() is not an array or object in append.php on line 15
This is completely caused by your host and their ad-appending code. You'd have to talk to them about it.

To be honest, my recommendation would be to switch to a non-free host if possible. As far as I know, the only hosts I've ever seen who have disabled ini_get (or phpinfo) have been free.

Hi, i have just tried the same on my test board located at a free host, completely messed up the test board when upgrading from vb 2.2.4 to 2.2.8.

Now, before i try to upgrade my main board (located at a paid host) i would like to test if ini_get has been disabled, is there anyway, a small php script maybe, to check if it has been disabled?

Sure i could ask my host but their customer service is bad, they reply after a week if at all.

So, how do i check if ini_get has been disabled?

The function 'ini_get' is used throughout vB. If it were disabled your forums wouldn't work.

          Lol, hehe, i see.

The 2.2.4 version worked fine on my test board, on the free server that has ini_get disabled in php, but trying to upgrade to 2.2.8 i get that error, i can view the test board but cant access admin cp.

Will that say that 2.2.4 doesnt use the ini_get for the admin cp?

Unfortunately I don't have copy of vB 2.2.4 to check. The code 'ini_get' is in 2.2.5 though so I'm almost positive it's in 2.2.4 as well.

From the error it looks like you're using Tripod which IIRC is a free host; good luck with any free hosts for PHP/MySQL as they always have some crucial part of PHP or MySQL locked down.
