  • [How Do I] setup a vB on my own computer for testing purposes?

I'm absolutely CLUELESS on how to, if anyone can show me the path, I would be very grateful.

I want to setup a vB on my own computer, so I can test things out on it, and also I won't have to wait for anything to load

    You need a server...try http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi
    You need PHP...http://www.php.net/downloads.php
    You need MySQL...http://www.mysql.com/downloads/index.html

Install in that order. If you decide to go IIS instead of Apache, you can get an automated install for PHP, otherwise get the manual install. It's a doddle so don't be too concerned.

Full instructions are included in the respective packages. If you get stuck, there's a tutorial here

just for testing purposes on WIN:
it's easier to download and install some triad for example FoxServ, this one installs all of the mentioned above (causing less headache for the less-experienced) and is ready to use.
