Is it possible to change say the page heading depending on which forum you are in?

My forum is www.footballforums.net/forums - say for example I was in a forum about USA football(soccer) could I have the banner at the top of the page change so it shows the stars & stripes?

To do this you'd need to set up different styles with different template sets for each forum. You then make that style non-user selectable and modify the forum to use only that particular style set.

Could you explain that part a bit more for me please?

For the first part, look at Styles / Modify / Properties and you'll see a check box to choose user-selectable or not.

On the second, go into Forums & Moderators / Modify / [edit] and choose the apporpriate style for the 'Custom style set for this forum' and set 'Override users custom styles' to 'yes'.

There's a lot of options in the Admin CP. You should take some time and just go through them to see what's available.

is there an easy way to create a new style set which is basically a duplication of the default one?

Download it to your computer, then upload it back in. You'll have duoplicate names when you do this so you'll need to change the names for the style, replacement and template sets.
