  • Wanted: Latest Posts Link on Front page...read inside

    Ok, I searched and couldn't find anything like what Im wanting, so I guess I'll ask here. :-)

    Im looking for the code/script/HOW TO (since Im a newbie at this) on how to make a LATEST POSTS link on the front page. When clicked, it will take you to a separate page that lists the latest posts from the past 24 hours (or possibly give you a choice between 24 hours, 3 days, and a week). I would like the latest posts ordered by the most recent reply/post, not just the order in which the original posts were made. While this has been done with phpBB1, I have no direct url to link you to to show an example.

    Im not sure if this is complicated or not, or if my query is clear, so if you need clarification in order to help me out, let me know.

    Any help would be extremely appreciated.

    Thanks to all,

    Fred Bingham

    'View New Posts' is already a default link on the forum home page and these are ordered by most recent post. You can add another which will bring up posts over the last 24 hours by editing the 'forumhome_newposts' template and adding this section in bold:

    <a href="search.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=getnew">View New Posts ($getnewpost[posts] since last visit)</a>
    <br>
    <a href="search.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=getdaily">View Posts From Last 24 Hours</a>

          ok, one more query. What do I change to give me that same code, but for "posts in last 3 DAYS". I notice the 24 hours one uses a getdailyn command, so Im sure I'd need to change that to something different?

          Thanks

              Take the link above and add
              Code:
              &days=3
              to the end.

                    Yep... When he asked that, I had to go look at the code but it works. You can set it up for any number of days. I think a week would be popular on some sites.
