At what point will vB start to reach its limit in terms of performance? Currently I have over
    • 31,000 registered users
    • 80,000 threads
    • 542,000 posts

    I am running:
    • Web Server - Dual PIII 500Mhz, 1GB RAM
    • DB Server - Dual PIII 800Mhz, 1GB RAM, 36GB RAID 1

Currently the database is about 814MB

We see about 700 concurrent users at our peak times and have had as many as 979 concurrent users.

At what point will vB no longer be able to handle the traffic on our site? I'm sure the hardware will reach its limit first, but I'm sure there's a limit to the number of users, posts, and threads that the system will handle efficiently.

    What is this limit?

    Thanks!
    Chris

Ever been to the Awful Forums? vB seems to handle them just fine.

vBulletin has been tested with 50,000 members and 2,000,000 posts with no performance problems. Usually it is not the number of posts or registered users, but rather the number of concurrent users that is the factor. MySQL can handle up to about 1200 to 1300 concurrent users on a highly tuned tricked-out server. vBulletin does not really have a limit so much as MySQL does. vBulletin could handle higher loads, but MySQL can't.
