    i reupped the files
it's still not setting the "u" or "i" variables to a value in the emailed link

    Have you installed any hacks?

Also try downloading 2.2.5 from the Member's Area again and reuploading all files, overwriting the ones on your server (you don't need to do the /images subdirectory).

    i found the problem!!!

i went to vBulleting.org and tested their password form

    i found a difference
    theirs shows this

    http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/membe...633&i=26898231

    http://www.lyricolympics.com/boards/...hp?a=pwd&u=&i=

the difference is my boards don't return a "u" or an "i" variable
can someone help me get some closure on this?

    thank you

    no sir
it's exactly as the 2.5.5 beta version set it
as soon as i installed that and reopened my boards
i just received emails about logins not working
only to realize my login only works in the admin page
    i can't login thru the member.php prompt

the email_resetpw template seems to email you a valid password
how exactly do you get to the page where that template is executed?

i'm guessing it would be here

    site/forum/member.php?a=pwd&u=&i=

    any ideas or suggestions?

    Is your email_lostpw template customized?

    very much so
because none of my members can log in
    including myself

and the password reset page never emails me a new password

i always get the email_lostpw email
    instead of the email_resetpw email

That's because 2.2.x uses password hashes instead of the actual passwords. vBulletin doesn't actually ever know your password, it only makes a hash of what you enter and compares it to the hash stored in the db. That makes it impossible for anybody with access to the db to find out your password.

    So...is this still a problem?
