  • problem with forum permissions

I have a forum that should be visible by admins only.

I have turned on access masks. I have set the forum to be private. I have set the forum permissions on all the groups so that all groups but administrators have all of their permissions turned off.

Yet, the moderator group can still access the forum.

    What am I doing wrong?

Moderators automatically get access to any privtae forums that are created,. The only way I know to fix this is to modify the forum permissions for each Moderator manually.

Ok, so if I make the forum non-private but close down all the permissions for all groups but administrators, then:

      1. Everyone will be able to see that the forum exists
      2. Only administrators will be able to view and post

Is that correct? That might work for me.

What about this for a work-around:

I could make the administrator-only forum non-private as above, but I could make it a sub-forum of a private forum. Would that work to make the forum invisible to general users and moderators without having to manually modify each moderator's permissions?
