  • Users can’t access forum.

    Hi

This problem started when my host applied the .php security patch to their version of php 4.0.6. I was running VB version 2.0.3 at the time and had all problems of “No forum Specified” I tried the removal of the enctype="multipart/form-data" to no avail, so I put these back in.

My host had now upgraded the .php to version 4.1.2 and all the problems of “No forum Specified” seemed to be a thing of the past.

The problem I now have is most users cant get on to the site or forum. I thought this might have been a problem of .php version 4.1.2 and Vb 2.0.3 so I have upgraded the forum to version 2.2.4 this hasn’t fixed a thing????

As well as not being able to access the forum, some users have reported that it wants to download a file to their computer?

this is what some users get from http://www.carponline.com/vbPortal/forums/index.php?s

New users seem to be able to register ok

My site is at http://www.carponline.com this page is only a automatic refresh page, that sends you to the forum at http://www.carponline.com/vbPortal/forums/index.php

Any help would be gratefully received.

Your host needs to update their MIME tables and set your account up to parse PHP. Until this happens you need to disable access to those directories and/or delete admin/config.php.

You are putting your server at risk because it is not properly setup.

This is a reply from my host.

The MIME types for php are set so that files with the .php extension are processed by the FastCGI PHP process. I checked the site and the .php scripts are being parsed (or they would return plain text - or html)
        Any ideas please

The only time I have ever seen this happening is when PHP wasn't working properly.

I can't see any other reason why it would do that. Do you have any .htaccess files in the directories?
