    I have analogic trouble

    Hello!

I have analogic trouble with vbulletin 2.2.1.
I have my own deducated server PIII-800 under Linux RedHat 7.1 with mySQL 3.26 and Apache 1.3.19 (mod_php is compiled in apache) and php 4.

After installation of Vbulletin - my server is begin work extremely slow when more than 6-7 peoples on the forums.

Average loads of my server is ~ same as on server of this thread author.

I am reoptimized vbulletin mysql databases - but no luck.

    Where can be trouble?

PS: Before installation of vbulletin I recompile kernel to 2.4.14 kernel with ext3 filesystem and convert filesystem to ext3 - but not was be same trouble.

    Best Regards,
    Alex

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I've tried numerous times to get the server tech admin to either post that information or provide me with it and I've been given nothing, so here's what I can offer.

We are running PHP 4.0.4 and MySQL 3.23.36. Along with the forums is a site that operates with databases via SQL.

The following is the output of the extended status script during one of these server-owning-resource-killing events.

to diagnose your problem please provide the following

    1. your server specs, such as mysql and php version
    2. if possible how mysql was compiled/installed
    3. your top stats
    4. your mysql configuration variables located at /etc/my.cnf or c:\my.cnf if on Windows server if you don't have that file you need to log into telnet and as root user type

    mysqladmin -u root -p variables

    copy and paste output here

    5. your mysql extended-status output either still telnet as root user type

    mysqladmin -u root -p extended-status

    copy and paste output here

or preferred is to installed extended-status output script which is located at http://vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=3477

and post url to that here

    6. oh and is your vB the only thing on the server? or other scripts? sites?

Sounds like you need to tweak your server out, what are the software specs, like apache, mysql, php, what versions...

A server like that should handle that amount of users well....

If the server admin isn't helping, and can't tweak a server, get a new one...

    Insane Server Load

Over the past couple of months I've been having problems with my forums killing my server from excessive resource waste, which is kind of strange considering it's a dedicated Dual P3 700 with a gig of memory. I was running 2.0.0 and eventually deleted my 5700 member forum to install the latest version from scratch, hoping it'd help clear out these problems.

My server should be eating the forums for breakfast. Unfortunately, it's the other way around.

I installed 2.2.1 just last night. My new forums have been up and running for about 8 hours now and my load-killing-server problem has happened twice already. They run smoothly for a while, then at some random interval, the entire server becomes nonresponsive for a short period of time, then eventually comes back online. After the server comes back online, the forums are empty and users have to reconnect/relogin. After the second time this happened, I checked the CP and got this:

    Server Load Averages 87.12, 82.56, 45.26

That is insane. Eventually the load averages returned to normal, but this is a constant problem and it only occurs when the forums are enabled (when disabling the forums, the server never has any problems). This shouldn't be happening. There are typically no more than 50-60 users online my forums at the same time and there are only a few hundred registered so far. This is a pretty serious issue, as it affects the operation of the general site itself, which also requires MySQL and PHP to function.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so, can you help me figure out what to do? Thanks.
