Restrict view of Forum to members only

I have a paid membership site and a public site and would like to have one forum for the public which everyone can view. But most importantly one in which only members can view the posts.

I would also want to disable registering on some forums, as I will add paid members myself.

If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

1. to set private forums, just modify forum -> edit forum -> set to private check box = Yes

2. edit usergroup forum permissions find the forums and edit 'registered' usergroup and set custom settinsg to allow only them into the private forum you set

do the same step 1 & 2 for each forum you want private

3. then in vB admin panel -> vBulletin options -> enable access masks

4. disable regos from vB admin panel -> vBulletin options -> user registration -> set allow registrations = NO

5. public forums are default so you don't have to do anything
