  • Strange problem with one single user and some characters

We have one user on our forums where all posts made by him are somehow strange.
Some characters he's typing are converted into something strange.
So a . (dot) is converted to @, a , (comma) is converted to ¤ and many more of these.

See the search results for posts made by this user:
    http://www.cncforen.de/search.php?s=...der=descending

It's only him (one of 440+) and he stated he's using no special settings in his OS (W98) or Browser (Nutscrape).
Also his country specific settings should be ok (he's living in germany).

While searching for the cause I told him to post into our guestbook on our newspage (which is also php/mysql based and resides on the same server) and there no error showed up, all the characters appeared as they're supposed to.

Anyone has got any idea what's could cause this error and how to fix it?

I assume these posts look as weird to him as they do to you, then?

Really? Then it definately isn't vBulletin that's at fault, it might well be his setup, eg, what his standard browser-language is etc., since it only seems to happen to him. That the guest-book works is pure luck, since in probably interprets the text erroniously, thus is able to show the text correctly. You can test this easily by feeding it some international letters and special characters, like æøåÆØÅéÉñц and so forth. vBulletin can take just about anything, and display it in a WYSIWYG-manner.
