  • Need help placing banner in forum!

    Hi,
    I have little to no experience in html, but i need to place a banner add on my forum.

    The size of the add is 540 by 74 pixels and i want it to sit above the (user CP, register, calendar etc) buttons.

    Can some one help me with information on what code is needed to place the banner on the site?

    thanks in advance

    you need to upload the banner to your site in the images directory or something.

    then goto the header template and insert a link for image, something like this:

    <img src="/dollar.gif" width="540" height="70">

    above all the code for usercp etc.

    I would be happy to this for you if you wish.

      Hi,
      Thanks for the reply.
      So "dollar.gif" is the name of the banner image?

      How do I enable a click through URL?
      Thanks again

        dollar.gif is the image.

        <a href="/directory/index2.htm"><img src="dollar.gif" width="540" height="70" border="0"></a>

        I am not a HTML guru myself but that should do the trick.

              Hi Guys,
              Will this place the banner above the "members, FAQ, search" buttons?
              Thanks again

                depends where you put it in your code.

                I had a look at your site and to get ito go right you are going to have to mess around with tables.

                Can u manage that ?

                  Put it right above this section in the header template:

                      Here is some of the code in the header section of templates:

                      <!-- logo and buttons -->
                      <center>
                      <table border="0" width="{tablewidth}" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
                      <tr>
                      <td valign="top" align="left" background="{imagesfolder}/menu_background.gif"><a href="index.php?s=$session[sessionhash]"><img src="{titleimage}" border="0" alt="$bbtitle"></a></td>
                      <td valign="bottom" align="right" nowrap background="{imagesfolder}/menu_background.gif">
                      <!-- toplinks -->
                      <a href="usercp.php?s=$session[sessionhash]"><img src="{imagesfolder}/top_profile.gif" alt="Here you can view your subscribed threads, work with private messages and edit your profile and preferences" border="0"></a>

                      Do I place it directly above or below <!-- toplinks -->?

                      Sorry to be a bother. Thanks

                        try it.

                        however, it may come up wrong

                        if it does tell us and we come up with some code

                          Just did it.
                          It pushed the "buttons" out a fair bit. Seem to get the link wrong as well.
                          Lol

                            fixed the image link, just the problem now is the position of the GIF banner.
                            Any ideas folks

                            The html text is:
                            <a href="http://www.gamenation.com.au"><img src="/images/header1.gif" width="540" height="70" border="0"></a>

                            The only problem i can see is the last bit
                            "border="0"></a>

                            ???
                            thanks!
