  • How do I add a single Admin Privilege for a Super Moderator?

    I would like to give some of my Super Moderators the
    privilege of upgrading member's Access Masks without them
    having access to the full control panel as an Administrator has.

    Is there a method to add this special feature?

    If not, how about just giving the Super Moderator a
    privilege of editing a member's record without access
    to the remaining of the control panel? They can
    "see the members record" now, but cannot make changes.

      He wanted it so they could only access one specific part of the Admin CP, and not the whole thing.

      I think you might be able to do this through yourforums/mod...

            Hope you don't mind David Copeland but my question is so related. I want to give my Moderators the ability to view "invisible" Members ... is there a way to do this without a hack (and/or giving them full access to the CP)?

              This isnt posible without a hack.

              You would have to modify index.php and online.php as far as i know.

              It wouldnt be too hard, if your interested its probably only adding 1/2 lines in total.

                Im bored, so i did it anyway-

                In online.php
                Find-
                PHP Code:
                  if ($userinfo[invisible]) {

                $userinfo[hidden] = '*';
                    if (
                $bbuserinfo[usergroupid] == 6) {
                Replace With
                PHP Code:
                  if ($userinfo[invisible]) {

                $userinfo[hidden] = '*';
                    if (
                $bbuserinfo[usergroupid] == OR $bbuserinfo[usergroupid] == 7) {
                7, is my moderator groupid, i do hope that its the same!

                Then, in index.php
                Find
                PHP Code:
                    if ($loggedin['invisible']==or $bbuserinfo['usergroupid']==6) {

                $numbervisible++;

                $userid=$loggedin['userid'];
                      if (
                $loggedin['invisible']==1) { // Invisible User but show to Admin
                and replace with
                PHP Code:
                    if ($loggedin['invisible']==or $bbuserinfo['usergroupid']==OR $bbuserinfo['usergroupid']==7) {

                $numbervisible++;

                $userid=$loggedin['userid'];
                      if (
                $loggedin['invisible']==1) { // Invisible User but show to Admin
                And that _should_ work

                    Access masks would involve a larger hack.

                    I can work on it if you want- cause this would be damn handy for me too.

                    Only thing is, itll take me a day or 2.

                    Are you willing to wait?

                    PS- I will only be adding functionality for the moderator to grant access to the forums they moderate, is that what you want?

                      I have already run into a delema(or however you spell it).

                      I run a 'Hosted Forums' site, as you probably all know(if you visit my forums). Now, the clan forums section, i run the public forum as the parent, and the private as the child.

                      I basically only want them to be adding/taking access to the private forum, not the public one.

                      Any thoughts by anyone on how one would do this? :|

                        Hey Merk! Thank you for helping with my "delema." I'm not going to add it just yet, as I want to let my Moderators know before it appears. I'll post here as soon as I do. Wish I could help with your question, but I can't. Good luck with it.

                        Again, Thank You.

                          You bring up two needs:

                          1) To add the ability for my Super Mods to add a forum access
                          for a member through the Access Mask feature, but not to
                          have control panel privileges. If it's easier, maybe give them
                          just the ability to edit the full record of the member, which
                          includes the Access Mask feature.

                          2) To be able to pull a sort report of all members who have
                          been granted specific mask privileges. And from that sort,
                          jusy click on the Access Mask Option and unmask their access
                          until the next time we invite them in.

                          --------

                          I have Super Moderators (not Moderators) who would be
                          assigned to add an Access Mask to a member who we want
                          in to a private forum.

                          Then after a few weeks when the private forum has
                          concluded it's business, we wish to pull up a list of all
                          members who we have added to a specific forum, so that
                          we can click them back to their default User Group.

                          Another month down the road, this same private forum will
                          be used for another group of members, some old some new.
                          But I don't wish to allow the old members back into the
                          masked forum unless we re-invite them.

                          I used to add numerous User Groups that would grant
                          access to different private forums. But that was a hassle.

                          I had all of my Moderators as Moderators, but I wanted them
                          to be a moderator-at-large to edit other topics in other
                          forums that they were not assigned to. The only way I was
                          able to do that was to make them Super Mods, and then
                          restrict out as much as possible.

                          Then the Access Mask feature grabbed my mind, and I found
                          it much easier to add private forum use to selected members.

                          If a specific mask cannot be brought up in a list form showing
                          the details of the members, then perhaps a list pulling up
                          all the masks that I have changed from default.

                          I have 1000 members, and about 200 of them get access
                          to a specific forum once a month, and then I turn their
                          access off. The only way I have been doing this is by searching
                          for their name one by one.

                            There is another topic in this forum (recent) titled INVISIBLE, that
                            I replied in.

                            I ended up using the suggestion to turn OFF the invisible feature
                            option for members. That way everyone is visible, except the
                            Admins if they choose so.

                              I don't want to take the feature from my Members, as many use it.
                              Just want to give my Moderators this additional info.
