User Name Change

A few of the users of my vbulletin boards have asked to have thier user name changed, mainly to delete their last name and leave their first name. Some users use their actual names, but now want it changed.

I have made the change via the control panel. But posts made prior to the user name change continue to show/reflect their prior user name. Is this changeable? Is there a way to bring prior post in line with the current user name?

Running Update Counters > Users should fix that.

I am not sure if i understood it correctly:

When I change an username of an user who already posted messages (I do the change manually in the database in the table user, e.g. with phpMyAdmin) and run the "update counters" afterwards -> all messages of this users are shown as posted by the new username - and not by "unregistered" or "guest" ???

Is that definitely correct? That would be really great!
