  • register_global setting in PHP.INI

I was helping someone install vbulletin on my server and they ran the compatibility script which reported the following.

    PHP version: 4.0.6 ... Passed!
MySQL support in PHP ... Passed!
PCRE support in PHP ... Passed!
    magic_quotes_sybase disabled ... Passed!
    track_vars enabled ... Passed!
    register_globals enabled .. Failed!
    So I turned off register_globals

When I did this ... things the first symptom I saw was that I was unable to login. I suspect there are other problems also.

What is the required setting for register_global?
