  • Installation problems

    First of all, I'm using PHP4, not sure exactly what version of mySQL. This is a site hosted on ADDR.com

    For people trying to install on addr.com, use localhost.addr.com as the server name...that'll save you a ton of time

    Anyway, as I just found out that was the host name, I tried to install VBulletin. A few errors have come back...

    Database error in vBulletin Installer: Invalid SQL: DROP TABLE IF EXISTS access mysql error: parse error near 'EXISTS access' at line 1 mysql error number: 1064

    Those errors came back when I said not to reset the DB.

    These next errors come back when I said to originally reset the DB..

    So...what i think I need to do is delete all the tables in the DB and re-install vBulletin with nothing in there. My problem is...I don't know how. Or, that might not even be the solution. So, what is the solution?

        Since I'm a fast typer, and have a nice Teach yourself MySQL book in 21 days handy, I figured...

        drop table tablename;

        would do the trick. And it did. Of course, it's tedious, but it worked.

        Now, I'm getting a too many connections error. This is probably because I was logged into my mysql DB via telnet when I tried to install VB...

        So, I'll let you know what goes down in the next few minutes.

          This was the same error i had before. Something isn't quite right with the demo forum..

                        Looks like you don't have a recent enoungh MySQL version (doesn't support multiple inserts in one query).

                            This seems to be a 'catchall' generic error number.
