Change "new posts" - "no new posts" in different style

I've been working on changing the style for a few of my forums.

I'd like to change the "new post" or "hot post" icons as well.

There isn't a place in the style images for this change (i can change the message board image and colors and so on...).

Can I have a different set of "posts" graphics for a different style?

If so, how?

Put them in a new directory i.e. images/newstyle and put that path in the imagesfolder replacement variable.
