How does the order of the smilies get decided?

I've added a bunch of smilies, then added some more but they don't seem to be going by filename nor list the newest ones last.

I'd like for all new smilies to be added LAST to the list. any know?

They are currently not ordered IIRC, meaning they get pulled out of the database in the order they're in in there.

When you view the list of smilies in the CP they seem to be ordered by name ascending. When replying/starting a topic, they seem to popup in the order they were added.

A question I have about this question is, Can I change the order of these easily? A hack for selecting which smilies where clickable would be nice
