  • Search builds, crash my server.

Emptied the Search Index as recommended in the admin.
Re-Indexing began and I assume that mysql overloaded the server at some point during reindexing. Everything froze and rebooted.

You should just be able to continue from where you left off, but you might want to turn down the number of posts that are indexed at once.

      Update:
I lowered it to 25 per, and tried it.
      It got this far...
Processing post 61399 in thread 3883

      server load was about 1.52
      crash.

I'll wait for it to come back up from a reboot and try it again.

It seems to be thread 3883 that is causing the problem, so try starting the search indexer just after that thread - that should aviod it being an issue.

          More:
system rebooted, attempted to run again.
          sql database had errors.

ran repair.php - seemed to fix that part.
server load is at 1.86 now while reindexing 10 at a time.
          some very very long threads

          still running...

          All done!

dang, dual 800mhz cpu's with 1 gig memory and vbulletin's search reindex (mysql) crashes the server. i really wish i had some help optimizing the mysql but no one had replied to my posts about it after i left the info. if anyone knows a good mysql guru who could help, please refer me to them.
