  • Forum layout assistance requested

    Hi,
    I am building an new site, and i want to use your forum. I've used your forum before, and I liked it. the thing is, I want my forum to look the same as my site (like the index page of my site) and i don't want to use frames. i use the forum for revieuws (like if you have an rex 6000, you can add an revieuw about your experiense with it)
    Example:
    main forum:
    vBulletin 2.0 'How Do I' Questions
    !show whats here on this page!

    now i want to show only the things that are under vBulletin 2.0 'How Do I' Questions and the Reply button into the design of my page. I Hope you understand what i mean.There is an picture in this post so it you can understand better what i mean.
    I hope to hear soon of you,
    Greatings,
    TVirus

    (Sorry for my english, I'm dutch)

    iFrames

    I think this can be accomplished by using the <iframe> tags ... altho they would only work with IE 4+ and not in Netscape...

      Yes, i know. but i dont want it to look like it is in an other page, if there are 25 reply for exampel then it's an long list, if you use iframes its alwais the same size. I used it on an other page:

      Thanks anyway,

          Check out my site http://www.thelaw.com where I'm using almost the latest version of vbPortal (still in beta). It's quite an amazing hack and if I wanted to I could also include the side border in my forums. Check out http://www.phpportals.com, the home site for the provider of this hack (wajones), to see the left border in action in the forums. I kept it out because to me it diminishes the readability of the forums on anything less than a 1024x768 resolution. My solution is creating a drop down in the top nav. When people are browsing the forums they don't need to be bombarded by other things, IMHO.

            Got it!!!!
            This is how I did it:
            Make your page in HTML. when you did that, you go to the dir. of vBuletin (where index.php is), open index.php in Microsoft Word or in notepad and press Ctrl + A (select the whole text), Copy it (Ctrl + C) and you paste it on the place you want to have it in your index.html (if you do this in frontpage, it will give some problems, frontpage is making texts of it. so open your page in notepad, and paste it there) then rename your index.html to index.php and unload it to your server and replace it with the index.php of your vBuletin.
            !!!If you are using pictures in your pag upload them to!!!
            now, when you go to your Forum, you will see the forum in your design.
            You can find my design here: http://www.mp3copyworld.f2s.com/php/forum/index.php but that is not for long. the new place will be here: http://www.paulsmp3page.f2s.com/forum/index.php
            I Hope someone can use this reply.
            Greatings,
            TVirus

              Or just change the templates footer and header, that the forum is only a cell in a table...
              Code:
              ------------------------------------------------
              +  logo  +           header stuff              +
              ------------------------------------------------
              +        +                                     +
              +        +                                     +
              +  menue +           forum goes                +
              +        +                                     +
              +  stuff +             here                    +
              +        +                                     +
              +        +                                     +
              +        +                                     +
              +        +                                     +
              +        +                                     +
              +        +                                     +
              +        +                                     +
              +        +                                     +
              ------------------------------------------------
              ...or do I misunderstand you completely?

                  that has nothing to do with php it's html only!

                  look in your templates: you find "header" and "footer", ok?

                  this goes in your header at the very top:
                  Code:
                  <table border="0" width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
                   <tr>
                    <td> <!-- logo stuff here --> </td>
                    <td> <!-- header stuff here --> </td>
                   <tr>
                    <td> <!-- menue stuff here --> </td>
                    <td> <!-- leave "td" open forum goes here -->
                  this goes in your footer at the very bottom:
                  Code:
                    </td> <!-- closing the above td tag -->
                   </tr>
                  </table>
                  now better?

                  huba,
