  • Errors

For a couple of days now I've been receiving error messages along the lines of this:

"Warning: Can't create a new thread (errno 11). If you are not out of
available memory, you can consult the manual for a possible OS-dependent bug
    in /home/sites/site55/web/forums/admin/db_mysql.php on line 38

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database. Please try
again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also
    contact if the problem persists.

    We apologise for any inconvenience."

The error messages I receive by email are usually something like this:

"Database error in vBulletin: Link-ID == false, connect failed
    mysql error:
    mysql error number:
Date: Thursday 31st of May 2001 07:42:18 PM
    Script: /forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=2
    Referer: http://www.adventuregamers.com/forums/index.php?s="

Do you have any idea what it could be? I contacted my host (tera-byte.com) and I haven't really heard back from them yet. I really doubt the server hasn't got enough capacity or something, when we had 35 users on the board (our record so far) nothing went wrong.

The errors seem to be concentrated around certain times (below are my local times in CET or GMT +1)

    May 24
    23:05 - 23:18

    May 25
    21:12 - 22:10

    May 26
    22:12 - 23:32

    May 27
    16:16 - 23:40

    May 28
    0:21 - 7:02
    17:14 - 23:51

    May 29
    0:03 - 4:01
    15:36 - 23:28

    May 30
    0:21 - 1:23
    15:57 - 16:25

Please help me out! The people on the forum are getting restless and I don't know what to do about this problem.

    Marek,

Are you running vBulletin using pconnects?

    Check in your config.php file for the $pconnect='something';

Let us know what 'something' is, and change it to 1 if it is 0, or 0 if it is 1.

      usepconnect was set to 1
I'll set it to 0 and see if it helps

I DO know of that Error. Your Host's MySQL partition may be FULL. Contact your host A.S.A.P.

          Thanks. I will them that.

Though when there are no errors it is possible to post new messages. So how can it be a harddisk space problem then?

Even when it is full, it may not be completely full. Unless you are on a dedicated server, other sites are also using mySQL and adding/deleting stuff on mySQL. So it's like when you could post, the partition was at %99, then %100, casuing error. Then some other site delete a few data, which will get partition back to %99 and so on...

I don't have my own dedicated server so that's possible. The thought of others deleting data in their databases just didn't occur to me, heh I'll tell my host right away!
