  • enabling vB's gzip?

    how do i turn it on? also, do i need to insall some stuff on my server? im on a shared hosting.

    Firstly,run this page:

    http://yourhost/forums/admin/?action=phpinfo

    Look at that page, and look for a section entitled zlib - if there is nothing there, you will have to ask your host to install it for you.

    Once you have confirmed that zlib is present, you can just turn on gzipping in the vBulletin control panel, and then set the compression level to 1.

    Also have a search around, because there have been several other threads about this too.

      ok, tried it and found this info:

      ZLib Support enabled
      Compiled Version 1.1.3
      Linked Version 1.1.3

      how do i turn on gzipping in vB? what is that compression you're saying?

        You can turn it on in your board's options (http headers area I think).
