Popup when user replies or posts?

I want to run a little contest that is open only to those that post a new thread or reply to an existing thread. Where would I put the code that calls the popup window? I tried the redirect_postthanks template, but I need to be able to parse php code. Any ideas?

Also, if it is possible to only have this popup in certain forums, that would be a huge plus.
