    Okay well I created the .sql dump through Admin CP. It's 264MB lol. And as the tutorial states, there will be timeouts for that big a file. The limit in phpMyAdmin is 51MB anyway. I guess I'm gonna have to force the new host to download that dump then Telnet it to their servers.. correct?

    Anyway, I'll see how that goes.

    Thanks for the help Steve! Appreciate it.

    The only consistently reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. If you want to try phpMyAdmin, here's the instructions.

    Backup with phpMyAdmin:

    Restore with phpMyAdmin:

    Ah damn.

    Basically I want to transfer our forums from our current host to our new host because our current one are becoming unreliable. That's the error I'm getting when I try to install over at the new servers. I've been told by their support that they can transfer the forums files and then if I create an .sql dump I can restore it via phpMyAdmin? i.e. not using Telnet because neither of them support it. Is this possible?

    Sorry, we can't really help with 2.2.9 installattion issues. The most likely problem is an incompatibility between that old version of vB and your versions of PHP and/or MySQL.

    You need to install at least 3.0.11 to get installation support.

    My SQL 1067 error

    Hello,

    In Step 4 of vBulletin 2.2.9 (I know it's old but I don't really need to update) I get to "creating table admin log" then I get a MySQL database error 1067. The exact error:

    Code:
    <!-- Database error in vBulletin Installer :

    Invalid SQL: CREATE TABLE adminlog (
       adminlogid int(10) unsigned DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL auto_increment,
       userid int(10) unsigned DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL,
       dateline int(10) unsigned DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL,
       script char(20) NOT NULL,
       action char(20) NOT NULL,
       extrainfo char(200) NOT NULL,
       ipaddress VARCHAR(15) NOT NULL,
       PRIMARY KEY (adminlogid)
    )
    mysql error: Invalid default value for 'adminlogid'

    mysql error number: 1067

    Date: Tuesday 20th of December 2005 03:21:16 PM
    Script: /.../forum/admin/install.php?step=4&resetdatabase=yes
    Referer: http://.../forum/admin/install.php?step=4&reset=1
     -->
    Anyone help?

    Thanks,
