  • A problem

    Hey all, I'm having a problem with my board. First off the main page of the board is not updating itself, but that I mean not showing that there are new posts. Another problem is that when you post an error message comes up:

    "There seems to have been a slight problem with the database. Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

    An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

    We apologise for any inconvenience"

    When I hit view source, I got this:

    "<!-- Database error in vBulletin: Invalid SQL: DELETE FROM searchindex WHERE postid=1707
    mysql error: Can't open file: 'searchindex.MYD'. (errno: 145)
    mysql error number: 1016
    Date: Sunday 13th of May 2001 06:38:49 PM
    Script: /editpost.php
    Referer: http://www.ticklingforum.com/editpos...st&postid=1707
    -->
    </td></tr></table>
    <p>There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.
    Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.</p>An E-Mail has been dispatched to our <a href="mailto:[email protected]">Technical Staff</a>, who you can also contact if the problem persists.</p><p>We apologise for any inconvenience.</p>"

    When you hit refresh it posts it fine, but this always comes up first. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks

    Error 145 happens when MySQL marked the table as crashed -- you have to repair it using myisamchk or repair.php in the admin (or extras) directory.

      re

      Okay I went in and tried to do a repair via myisamchk, but I got the following error message:

      myisamchk error: searchindex.MYD doesn't have a correct index definition. You need to recreate it before you can do a repair.

      What does this mean? Can someone tell me how to 'do a repair'?

      Thanks

        Well, to fix that error you'll have to run the following MySQL queries:

        DROP TABLE searchindex;
        CREATE TABLE searchindex (
        wordid int(10) unsigned DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL,
        postid int(10) unsigned DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL,
        intitle smallint(5) unsigned DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL
        );
        ALTER TABLE searchindex ADD UNIQUE (wordid,postid);

        and then you'll probably want to reindex your forums for searching.
