    heres a situation:
a user has gone out and gotten people to visit and register at your board, but they forgot to use their referrer ID.

Can we add referrals to them? If so how...since I have not been able too.

    Thanks!

    1) http://www.yourdomain.com/forums/index.php?referrer=XXX
    2) They can mouse over the profile graphic of any of their posts and note the "userid=XXX" part, where XXX is their user id number.
    3) They're counted the same. The username box is if a user didn't follow a referrer=xxx link, they can still give the user that referred them a credit. It can be done either way.

    Referrals

Not really sure if this question fits into this forum or not, but I am looking to have a little contest in my forums to get people to come to the site.

I plan on giving away a prize to the most referrals in a certain time period, but need to make sure I understand completely how the referral system works.

In the control panel, it refers to a number that they attach.

    1. What would the link look like for the number referral (example: http://www.domain.com/forums/referrer=xxx)?
    2. How would the user know their number?

Also, when the referral system is turned on, it asks for a referral name in the new user registration area, not a number.

Is there a difference between the two, would they be counted differently?

    Thanks
