• Ubb6 --> Vbb2.0

I'm going to try an update from ubb to vbb.
My question is : When I update, could I still use the ubb forum or VBB doesn't allow it ?
In clear, VBB change the ubb files or just COPYING the files needed ?

Thx in adance

Vb reads the needed file and build mysql database. Thus, no changes will be made to the current UBB file.

Just so everyone knows, you can import user info from UBB6 with no problems using the built in import script

I try it now and for the moment it rules.
This script is so good.
Just one "bug", posts who have been posted by unregistred users (display like <Bouddha> ) are "translated" by VBB by <Bouddha> !
Is there an issue ?

It's stored that way in the UBB, I would assume. Otherwise it wouldn't display on the page - <Bouddha> is an invalid HTML tag and the browser would either choke on it or ignore it. So it has to change the < to > or it won't work.

Are you guys implying that importing from UBB6 to vB2 beta 3 is possible with the current scripts ?

All I can say it's my translation from UBB6 to VBB 2 beta 1 is quite simple and run fine.

You can only import the User accounts, no threads or forums

Bouddha was saying he did I believe:

we don't have any unregistered users so that wouldn't be a problem for us, they are all registered

yep, give it a try philip, i hope it's able to import EVERYTHING cause that would be the optimal solution

While it won't screw your UBB up, I wouldn't bother trying it. As a user of both vB and UBB (long story...), I can tell you that the way threads are stored has changed at least slightly in UBB6. So the import script will most likely not work, and as somebody stated earlier it will only import members.

It only imported members in my case.

May I ask why you are still just using beta 1?

It seems to be importing all the Members, all the Forums, but only about half the threads for me.

It should be an easy modification for the vB developers
