      Thanks

I know how to do it but I am getting time outs because my database file is 19,000 kb.

I believe the admincp backup just backs it up as a text file. Is there a way I can compress it or something first???

Some control panels like cpanel and plesk and also phpmyadmin allow you to gzip sometimes, but you can't import the .gzip - you still have to unpack it first.

If you can't upload the .sql dump through the browser you have to ask your hosting provider to do it for you, or upload it through the shell.

          Through the shell??

Through a telnet/ssh connection to the web server. So you can execute the import commands directly on the server, no timeout or filesize upload restrictions.

The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. Please see the instructions here:

              Backup:

              Restore:
