E-mail notification has stopped working...

HI, as per the title. Have had the forum for years, is only used for a couple of months per year though. Just suddenly noticed that I hadn't had any notification of replies to my posts for around a week.

So, posted with another of my user names and that got the e-mail telling me someone subsequently replied, however, another user has also realised that they are experiencing the same problem and not getting the mails. Haven't ascertained how many people affected yet - possibly everyone now?

Are there any obvious things here? I may have changed the e-mail address for admin recently but am not sure if it corresponded with probs and I;ve changed it back now. ie. host says that sendmail can't send to same domain name or something.

Help needed, as traffic will obviously be down if no-one is getting the mails.

Are any email functions working? If so, you will need to view the mail logs on the server to see what happened to those emails. Once vB sends it to PHP it's in the hands of the server. If you are on a shared server you may need to ask your host to look through the logs for you.

For what it's worth I get a lot of bounced emails from people who's mail boxes are full, 'unavailable' or over quota. This is a particular problem with hotmail and yahoo accounts. Unless you are on a dedicated server and can set where these bounce messages go, you will never see them. The mail logs will have a record of these though.

Another thing to keep in mind is that many ISPs and mail clients are putting in very aggressive spam filters. It's possible these emails are being placed into a spam folder or are being filtered.

vB not sending email confirmations

Seems that my vB (2.3.0) is having trouble sending out confirmation emails. Any ideas why, maybe some typical scenarios to help me hunt down the problem to fix? Thanks

vB doesn't stop sending out emails all by itself. You need to look at the mail servers logs as I pointed out in my previous reply.
