  • Confirmation e-mails blocked by spam filters

When a new user registers, they are sent a confirmation e-mail. It seems that many AOL users do not receive them, and certain others do not receive them, due to various kinds of spam and junk mail filters. Some people have mail settings that only allow mail from designated addresses.

Are any of you having trouble with this, and if so, what are you doing to deal with the problem? Is there any sort of statement you find useful to make to newcomers so they can receive mail?

    Thank you....

This is a common problem. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it.

A good way to counter this problem is to post a note on your forum pages for users that are awaiting email activation. Here are instructions for doing that in vB3. vB2 doesn't support template conditionals so you would have to add custom code to make the note only appear for specific users.

Are you running vB2 or vB3?

      I am running 2.3.0

I will have a look at the material to which you provided the link, and thank you very much for that.
