maximum post length - why? (+hack)

Hi,

Why is that maximum post option in vB? Is this an issue when it comes to indexing the threads and posts? Our is it just to prevend users from posting too long boring stuff without any technical background?

Question is, if I lift the default to 99999999999 will it slow down my faourm?

And I put a small hack here:

which enables mods and admins to post posts that are "too long".

Well the maximum size you can have it is 16 megabytes. Just put a 0 in the field. It will not increase performance. For more systems, 15,000-25,000 will be more than sufficient.
