  • Upgrade from 2.2.8 to 3.03....

Can someone help out with a quick rundown on how to help get me from 2.2.8 to 3.03? I have dl'd the 2.3.5 version and the new 3.0.3 version. Im guessing I need to upgrade to 2.3.5 first, and then on to the new 3.

Also, since Im such a newb at this, am I allowed to create a new test dbase and install the stuff to there, so my site isn't down while I figure out what Im doing? I have backed up my current dbase, but don't want to alter it until I have the install figured out and working on a test dbase.

If so, how do I do this? I know it's a vague question, but how do I create a new test dbase file?

It's been so long since I've upgraded that I've forgotten how to do most of this stuff, and Im not a techno-have in the first place, hehe. I was proud enough that I got it up and running on my site the first time.

Thanks for any and all help that you folks can provide.

    Regards,

You need to upload the 2.3.5, then run this upgrade script to upgrade the database to 2.2.9:

After this, you can remove the vB2 files and upload the vB3 ones. Be sure to copy config.php.new to config.php and edit it with your appropriate database info and other options. Then you wcan run the install/upgrade.php to begin the upgrade process.

vB2x to 3x is a HUGE upgrade. I suggest you pay vB tech support to do it. Once isn't going to bankrupt you ($135).

Actually, it wasn't hard to do at all. The new version is up and running. I now just need to figure out how to alter a few areas to match the colors of the rest of the page.

        Thanks for the replies!
